EAOhms Presents on Open Source FMS Development at Georgia FIRST Symposium Sept 12
We feel honored to be presenting at the Georgia FIRST Symposium on September 12, at 10:15am. We’ll be talking about the Nevermore Field Management System we’ve been developing over the summer.
The FIRST Robotics Competition Field Management System has been around for quite a long time, ensuring the safety and accuracy of each FIRST Robotics Competition match. But with the coronavirus outbreak this year, and more teams wanting to host low-cost year-round fields, we felt a more cost-effective alternative would be helpful. So we’ve proposed an alternative FMS, capable of using less expensive equipment while having the same functionality as FIRST’s FMS. This talk will cover:
-
The Nevermore FMS and the many challenges in designing a FMS.
-
Fault Tolerance in Elixir/Erlang.
-
Reverse engineering the FIRST FMS Network Protocol.
-
Binary Protocols in Networking.
-
Engineering Sensor Modules.
Our goal is to have the Nevermore FMS ready to roll for ROBOTICON 2020 Live Online in November.
We hope you’ll join in the Symposium to hear our session at 10:15am. Register here for the Symposium link and access to our session and many others. Contact us at frcteam5276@gmail.com if you have questions about the FMS and would like to help out with it or beta test.
